This Privacy Policy explains how Empire Remodel Index ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with empireremodelindex.com (the "Site"). We keep this simple because the Site collects very little.

Information we collect

• Business listing information. Listings (company name, address, phone, specialties, ratings, and similar details) are compiled from publicly available sources such as Google Business Profiles. This is public business information, not personal information about consumers.
• Information you send us. If you email us (for example, to claim a listing or ask about a Sponsored placement), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
• Basic server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records standard technical data for security and reliability, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested. We use this only to operate and protect the Site.
• Aggregated site usage. Vercel Web Analytics records anonymous, aggregated page views, referrers, general device information and country-level location so we can understand which directory pages are useful. Vercel states that these analytics are not tied to an individual or IP address.

How we use information

• To operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its listings.
• To respond to your emails and manage free claims and Sponsored placements.
• To protect the Site against fraud, abuse, and technical problems.
• To comply with legal obligations.

How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site, and only as needed for them to provide their service:

• Hosting: Vercel Inc. (hosts the Site and processes server logs).
• Email: Google Workspace (handles our email at empireremodelindex.com).

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our legal rights. If we later add a lead-generation form, any details you submit there would be shared only with the specific contractor(s) you ask to contact, and we will describe that clearly at the point of submission.

Cookies

The Site does not set tracking or advertising cookies. Any storage used is limited to what is strictly necessary for the page to function.

Your choices and rights

• Contractors: you can ask us to correct or remove your listing at any time by emailing us, and we will act on reasonable requests promptly.
• Email: if we email you, you can opt out at any time by replying "remove," and we will stop and remove your listing on request.
• Access/deletion: you may ask what information we hold about you and request that we delete it, subject to legal limits.

Data retention

We keep listing information for as long as the directory is active, and email correspondence for as long as needed to manage our relationship with you and meet legal obligations. We remove listings on valid request.

Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults arranging home-improvement services and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
